Activity of militants in southern Ukraine declines

A decline in the activity of pro-Russian militants has been recorded in the southern direction, because they are quickly eliminated by Ukrainian security forces.
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing on Wednesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“As to the southern direction, that is Mariupol, there is a decrease in the activity of militants there, so we don’t have yet to speak of preparations for an intensive attack or some provocation,” Lysenko said.
He said that Ukrainian security forces in this area were acting very professionally, which constrains the actions of militants. “Our patrol services, servicemen work very well there, and checks are conducted at checkpoints, so we don’t see any new threat than the one that already exists,” Lysenko said.
