Ukrainian Foreign Minister calls ”alternatives” to Minsk pact

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin says that the alternative to the Minsk agreements could be Russia`s destabilization of Ukraine and freezing of the Donbas conflict.

”We all know that the Minsk agreements are commitments, in particular, political commitments on the part of Russia… The alternative to Minsk is [conflict] freezing and Russia`s subsequent destabilization of Ukraine,” Klimkin told one of the Ukrainian TV channels, Liga.net reported.

Earlier, U.S. President Barack Obama urged his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to uphold Russia`s commitments under the Minsk agreements.

As reported earlier, U.S. President Barack Obama and the leaders of five European Union countries – German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, the Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and the British Prime Minister Theresa May agreed to maintain sanctions against Russia until Moscow`s fulfillment of the Minsk agreements.
