Company-operator of Ukrainian-based nuclear power plants sees revenue from electricity sales rise to UAH 34 bln in 10 mths

State-run enterprise Energoatom, the operator of all Ukrainian-based nuclear power plants, reported a 6.6% growth of revenue from electricity sales in January-October 2016 year-over-year (y-o-y) to UAH 33.894 billion, the company reported.

Wholesale electricity market payments for electricity supplied by Energoatom amounted to UAH 30.704 billion (90.6%) in the reporting period.

It is also reported that state-run enterprise Energorynok, the operator of the wholesale electricity market of Ukraine, owes UAH 12.069 million to Energoatom. This includes debts for electricity supplied in previous periods.

The company`s power generation in the period under review decreased to 65.286 billion kW/h from 72.112 billion kW/h during the same period last year. Energoatom`s share in the Ukrainian electricity market was 52.3% in the first 10 months of this year.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in 2015 Energoatom increased its revenue from the sales of electricity by 41.6% y-o-y, to UAH 39.345 billion. In 2014, the company saw a 34.9% increase in its revenue, to UAH 27.794 billion.

UNIAN memo. Energoatom is Ukraine`s largest electricity producer, accounting for about 50% of the country`s overall power output. Energoatom is responsible for the safe operation of all nuclear power plants in the country.

Ukraine ranks seventh in the world in terms of the installed capacity of its nuclear power generating units. Energoatom operates four nuclear power plants in Ukraine with 15 power generating units, all with VVER-type reactors. Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, operating six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW, is Europe`s largest.
