Members of the tripartite contact group (Ukraine – Russia – OSCE) to resolve the conflict in the east ofUkraine held a video conference.
BelTA reports, citing the OSCE press service.
“The discussion was held in a constructive atmosphere,” a statement reads.
According to the agency, the video conference was attended by representatives of self-proclaimed “republics,” as well as the office ofSwitzerland, presiding in the OSCE.
“Participants in this remote conference considered that the level of violence in the conflict zone has declined over the recent time. The situation is calm at 70% of the length of the contact line of the conflict. They agreed that this positive trend should be maintained, and the parties will spare no effort in order to strengthen the observance of the ceasefire agreements, and make it more stable,” a statement says.
Members of the contact group stressed the need for work of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the OSCE in monitoring the ceasefire throughout the East and called on members of the “LPR” and “DPR” to make every effort to ensure the safety of observers.
The parties also discussed the renewal of infrastructure in the region, in particular, water and electricity supplies, as well as railway communication.
