That was the question fromÂ Russia’s ambassador to NATO, Alexander Grushko, as he cast doubt onÂ the need for European members of the alliance to increase their military spending, as demanded by U.S. President Donald Trump.
In a briefing with reporters Thursday, Grushko warned that Trump was at risk of setting offÂ a new arms race that would potentially endanger the security of EU countries, particularly the Baltic states and Poland, where NATO has stationed new battalionsÂ as a deterrence against Russia.
