Poland tries to end constitutional crisis ahead of NATO summit


WARSAW — Poland’s parliament on Thursday rushed through a law reforming the functioning of the top constitutional court in an effort to defuse an issue that has poisoned the country’s relations with its allies ahead of the NATO summit starting in the capital Friday.
Poland has been embroiled for months in a constitutional crisis over the selection of judges to the 15-member Constitutional Tribunal and over which rules the body should follow.
