Right-wing party exits parliamentary coalition in Ukraine


KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — A right-wing party says it is leaving Ukraine’s ruling parliamentary coalition because it’s opposed to a constitutional amendment that would give greater powers to the rebel-held eastern region.The Radical Party of Oleh Lyashko, which came in fifth in last year’s election, said Tuesday that it is leaving the coalition and calling for a national referendum on the amendment.Three people died in clashes between nationalists and police outside Ukraine’s parliament on Monday after a vote to give more powers to the regions, including the east.Ukrainian nationalists strongly oppose the measure, fearing it would threaten the country’s sovereignty.Join …read more
